Inframammary
The most common approach, placed within the natural crease beneath the breast. This technique offers Dr. Rao excellent visibility and precision during implant placement.
Scarring: Scar is hidden in the breast fold and fades to a thin line, virtually undetectable when standing or in a bra or swimsuit.
Periareolar
An incision made along the lower edge of the areola, where the skin tone transitions. Often preferred when a breast lift is performed at the same time.
Scarring: Scar follows the natural pigment border of the areola, camouflaging it exceptionally well as it heals.
Transaxillary
Placed within a natural fold of the armpit, allowing the implant to be positioned without any incision on the breast itself.
Scarring: No scarring anywhere on the breast; the small axillary scar is easily concealed by arm position.
